How much does the Heavy Equipment Operator training program cost?

The tuition fee for our program is currently $12,500.00. This includes all books, a hard hat and a safety vest. Trainees must supply their own regulation safety footwear.

We can issue a tax receipt for the full amount of the course because we are a federally approved institution.

How long is your Heavy Equipment Operator training program?

The Robar Heavy Equipment Operator training program is a five (5) week course scheduled every six (6) weeks to accommodate extra time in case of cancellations due to inclement weather. The course comprises 175 hours on the machines and 25 hours of classroom instruction time and home study credit. This is 200 hours of training.

What experience is required for the Heavy Equipment Operator training program?

The Robar Centre offers an entry-level program for individuals who want to learn how to operate heavy equipment to an acceptable level of safety and proficiency in various industrial settings. The program enables individuals, with or without prior experience, to enter the workforce with all of the safety training and machine operating techniques required in this field.

What is covered in Robar’s Heavy Equipment Operator training program?

The theory component is designed to deliver a comprehensive understanding of equipment maintenance, heavy equipment system operations, proper walk-around (pre-work inspection) and proper site management, emphasizing the importance of quality and safety in these areas.

The practical component focuses on operating techniques and practices and is conducted in an actual construction site atmosphere. It includes operating six (6) pieces of equipment, including an excavator (large and mini), bulldozer (medium size), backhoe, heavy front-end loader, skid steer (wheeled) and vibrato /compactor with either a smooth drum or a sheep’s foot (rough drum).

Are campus tours available?

Campus tours are available at our 600 Nebo Road location in Hamilton, Ontario. You can drop by during the week or call ahead to meet with a representative. This visit would be beneficial because it would give you an opportunity to tour the facility and view the field and machines. You can also discuss the program in depth and get real-time answers to your questions. We strongly recommend that you visit any schools that you are considering for training to ensure that it’s a good fit that will set you up for success. Ask to tour the Robar campus.

How often are the programs available?

Courses start every 6 weeks throughout the year, typically beginning in the second week of January. See our class schedule here.

Does Robar guarantee employment after training?
No, we don’t. What we will do is provide you with excellent training and give you ample opportunity to dig in and do the kind of work during trainee that makes you an excellent candidate for jobs. With this confidence and competence, you’ll have everything you need to impress potential employers on paper and in interviews.
